Jess Haskins

Co-Chair

 

Jess is a game designer, writer, and editor specializing in narrative design, worldbuilding, and interactive storytelling. She previously worked at Muse Games on titles including Creavures and Guns of Icarus Online, and served as Creative Director at What Pumpkin Studios. She currently provides game development, writing, and consulting services at Paperback Studio, and organizes NYC Indie Games, a social group for local game developers.

James Seetal

Co-Chair

 

James has worked in the video game industry and digital interactive space for over 18 years. A majority of his career has been spent right here in New York working on countless projects for multiple companies and working on everything from 1st & 3rd party commercial games, government contracted serious games, educational games, and licensed properties for Spike TV, The History Channel, Homestuck, Star Wars, and AMC Network. Now he's working on his own indie game projects as owner and creator of Saturday Morning Games.  

 

James believes we have a great community here, and he want to make sure it not only sustains, but grows!

Greetings to Everyone! For those that don't know me, I was raised on consoles and have a deep love for all games. That love drove me to network and socialize within the local development community, which naturally took me down the educational path to obtain a degree in computer science. It was that community that motivated me to pursue and secure my place within this vibrant game development network. 

 

It has been a long, winding yet rewarding road within the industry, yet my intentions remain simple; I would like to pass along that energy and knowledge to all developers to help bolster this fantastic community.

Brian S. Chung

Brian is a game designer, educator, and event producer. He has nearly 10 years of professional game design experience, and currently helps direct the game development program at Bloomfield College as well as the operations of the game development community organization at The Sheep's Meow.


Adam Davidson

Executive Producer, Avalanche Studios

 

Adam is a well-traveled 18-year veteran of the industry who joined Avalanche Studios in 2013. He has produced numerous games of all shapes and sizes, including MMOs, budget titles, and plenty of AAA console games. After serving as Design Manager on Darksiders 2 at Vigil Games, he found his home at Avalanche Studios working on Just Cause 3 and Mad Max, and now as the Executive Producer on the next title.

Chris "Widget" Dimauro

NYU Tandon Game Innovation Lab

 

Chris assists in research as staff at the Game Innovation Lab, makes cute robots, and tinkers with Unity.

David Epstein

Founder, Eppy Games; Unity3d Meetup co-organizer

 

David is founder of Eppy Games and one of the creators of Dirtbags MotorClub. He is an active developer working with a wide range of teams and companies on AR and VR projects.


Clara Fernández-Vara

Associate Arts Professor, NYU Game Center; Co-Founder, Fiction Control

 

Clara is a game scholar, designer and writer. She specializes in narrative design in games, both in the commercial sphere and research. 

Richard "Lord British" Garriott

Portalarium

 

Richard is a Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement award holder. He is the creator of the Ultima Series, coined the now ubiquitous term "avatar" and MMO's. He is also a private astronaut. Current project is Shroud of the Avatar.

Dennis is a programmer at Brooklyn Gamery. Can be found at most of the game jams in the NYC area.

Bill Podurgiel

Studio Manager, Avalanche Studios

 

Bill Podurgiel is the Studio Manager of Avalanche Studios in NYC. He has worked on titles ranging from action to MMO and strategy, and actually began his career as an artist before transitioning to production and operations.

Coray Seifert

Writer & Executive Producer, Krakensoft

 

For more than a decade, Coray has developed games as a designer, writer and producer for companies like THQ’s Kaos Studios, Large Animal Games, and the US Department of Defense. He has shipped over 30 games for PC, console, and mobile, including the IGF award-winning indie hit Rocketbowl, AAA titles Homefront and Frontlines: Fuel of War, and Zynga Slingo.


Catt Small

Brooklyn Gamery; The Code Liberation Foundation

 

Catt is a game maker, product designer, and front-end web developer. She has done design work for companies of all sizes including Bedrocket, NASDAQ OMX, and Scholastic. Catt makes video games with Brooklyn Gamery as well as Buttered Toast Studios and teaches game development with The Code Liberation Foundation.

Greg Trefry

Gigantic Mechanic; Come Out & Play

 

Greg makes real-world games and playful experiences with Gigantic Mechanic.  He also helps run the annual game festival, Come Out & Play.

Peter Vigeant

Director of Platform & Game Development, ESC Game Theater

 

Pete makes large games and enjoys elephants.


Glenn Winters

Previsualization Supervisor, Rockstar Games

 

Glenn completed his Masters Degree in Digital Media from Drexel University with a focus on how structural design can influence a player's decision making process in 3D adventure games. Upon completion, he started his career in the performance capture division of Rockstar Games and continues to help build the NYC Game Dev scene.
